The History of Magic the Gathering told via a Card From Every Set 14: Kaladesh to Dominaria

Hey guys, here's my newest The History of Magic: The Gathering video.  The last of these came out in August, so it's been a while.  I have been experimenting with some new kinds of content, but it's good to return to something familiar.

At exactly 29 minutes in length, this is the longest video in this series so far. We cover 7 whole sets from Kaladesh to DominariaDominaria holds a pretty special place in my heart, and going to the Dominaria pre-release is probably one of my favourite MTG Memories.

As always I hope you enjoy :)

'Spooky' Ravnica Mixer Halloween Draft

Hello everyone, happy Halloween.  You guys may not know this but Halloween happens to be the anniversary of when I created this blog 2 years ago.  I know I have moved largely onto video essays, but I wanted to do something to commemorate the occasion.

I have been very busy this month, so unfortunately I didn't have the time to write a spooky Unusual Tribes article, instead I hope you'll enjoy this Ravnica Mixer draft on MTG Arena.  Let me know what you think, and if you'd like to see any more gameplay videos from me.

Thanks and have a suitably horrifying Halloween.

The History of Magic the Gathering told via a Card From Every Set 13: Magic Origins to Eldritch Moon

Hello everyone.  Here is the next part in my The History of Magic The Gathering series.  Magic Origins was a fun set, even considering that it's a core set.  I also happen to think that Shadows Over Innistrad block was great.  I was not, however, much of a fan of Battle For Zendikar block.  See if you can tell, once you've watched this.

Like I said before, I'm experimenting with some new types of videos.  So expect the next thing I upload to be a bit different.

Thanks as always,

Understanding the Book of Exalted Deeds ban

I'm experimenting with some new video formats, so let me know what you think of this.

I've put together a brief discussion piece where I talk about the recent banning of the card Book of Exalted Deeds on MTG Arena 7 days prior to the physical release of the card.

The History of Magic the Gathering told via a Card From Every Set 12: Theros to Dragons of Tarkir

Happy pride month everybody and here's part 12 in this long running series.  This video looks at Theros block, Tarkir block and Core Set 2015.

I love Greek Mythology so Theros block has always held a special place in my heart, in fact next month expect a new video about something Theros related.

Tarkir, meanwhile, is probably most famous for being the block which brought allied colour fetch lands back to modern.  I think this is a disservice though.  It's a world with a unique aesthetic and theme. Plus Dragons are fantastic, and time travel is cool so any story which mixes the two of them together must be onto something.

As always, I hope you enjoy.

The History of Magic the Gathering Told via a Card From Every Set 11: Return to Ravnica Block & Core Sets 2013 and 2014

Here's the next part in my History of Magic: The Gathering series.  Like Innistrad before it, Return To Ravnica is a great block which ends with a less than stellar set. Core Sets 2013 and 2014 are also pretty exciting, as far as core sets go, even if Core Set 2014 does provide an incredibly slow play experience.

I hope you enjoy.

The History of Magic the Gathering Told via a Card From Every Set 10: Scars of Mirrodin - Avacyn Restored

We've made it all the way to part in my history of Magic: The Gathering.  In this video first we'll be looking at Scars of Mirrodin block. Scars of Mirrodin is famous, or perhaps infamous, for introducing Phyrexian Mana.  Next up we take a quick look at core set 2012 and the history of the Hexproof and Shroud mechanics.  Finally we close out by heading to Innistrad to look at one of the game's most popular sets and then one of its least popular sets.  I hope you enjoy, and thank you for sticking with the series for 10 whole episodes.

The History of Magic the Gathering Told Via a Card From Every Set 9: Zendikar Block & Core Sets 2010 and 2011

Here's another part in my series looking at the history of Magic: the Gathering. Today we'll be looking at two core sets, as well as the adventure plane of ZendikarZendikar block is home to several powerful cards, whether they are infamous mind sculpting blue Planeswalkers or Eldrazi Titans.  The two core sets surrounding it also shake the game up.  Whether that's through reprinting Lightning Bolt or by introducing powerful mythic creatures.
